5 Strategies To Alleviate Your Cat Dander Allergy
Cat dander is one of the most common issues affecting cat owners and can make you really miserable. If you are a pet owner who is allergic to cat dander, then great news, you may not have to give away your feline friend.
Cat dander are very tiny pieces of cat skin shed by your pet and passed around all over your home. It is sometimes wrongly diagnosed as cat dandruff. If you are allergic to them, here are some ways to minimize the problem:
1) Don’t let your cat into the bedroom or onto your bed. I know this is difficult especially for those who share the bed with the cat, but the close distance of your body to the bed sheet and pillow means that you’ll be inhaling cat dander whenever you sleep. Try to train your cat to recognize your bedroom as out of bounds and you should see immediate improvement. If it is not possible to keep your pets out of your bedroom then washing your sheets and blankets with hot water on a weekly basis is a must.
2) If your home has rugs then you may consider throwing them out as cat dander stick on to them and bacteria breeds easily there. If you have a carpeted home then a thorough cleaning and regular vacuuming will be beneficial.
3) The fabric on your sofa is also conducive for cat dander. You can vacuum your furniture or cover your furniture with sofa covers. Then simply wash the covers on a regular basis. Another great alternative is purchasing a leather furniture set.
4) Curtains made of fabric can collect dander. Because cat dander is sticky it can easily attach to your curtains. If you are able to, wash your curtains to remove the dander. And alternative to fabric curtains are mini blinds, vertical blinds or wood blinds.
5) As cat dander can be airborne due to their tiny size it can be difficult to help eliminate it altogether. However, by investing in an air purifier it can help reduce the constant tiny particulars from flying around loosely.
These five simple tips are a good start though by no way are they the only solutions. More cat dander information can be found at www.catdandruffaway.com
